For years I struggled with how to get and stay fit. I struggled with addiction. I wasn’t satisfied with how I looked or felt. I was constantly getting sick. Worse, I was injured a lot.
But it’s different now.

It took a long time, a lot of reading, a lot of coaches, a lot of trial and error, a car accident where I smashed my head through the window (!), and plenty of good, old-fashioned encouragement.
Now I’ve packaged everything that I’ve learned from experience and education into 130 densely-packed pages that will help you:
Anyone can do it. A lot of people are in shape who don’t own any fancy equipment, don’t own fancy exercise clothes, don’t own a pair of specialized running shoes, don’t take supplements, and have a ton of energy and are relatively devoid of health problems.
It’s not about the money. It’s not about what you own. People have been lean, healthy, and strong for thousands of years, in vastly different circumstances, with vastly different food.
In addition to my own personal experience, I’ve interviewed others who have already made the journey—older people who are lean, healthy, and strong. Guess what? Many of them don’t own any fancy equipment or any special exercise clothes. They don’t take supplements and are relatively devoid of health problems.
The one thing these people do have is the ability to control their impulses and desires.
I know, I know. It doesn’t sound sexy or cool. But it works, and it’ll work for life. And it’s the first step towards achieving anything.
You want an approach that is going to work for the long term… Don’t you? Or do you want to roller coaster diet and exercise for the rest of your life and never feel fulfilled?
In the book Red Gold by Grigori Raiport (a sports psychologist in the former Soviet Union) relates a story about running a personality test at the Moscow Institute. They selected hundreds of successful individuals from various walks of life and discovered that almost 80% of them possessed no more than average mental abilities. But, they all shared one trait: self-control.
Self-control, thankfully, is a trait that can be developed and honed.
“I don’t do more, but less, than other people. They do all their work three times over: once in anticipation, once in actuality, once in rumination. I do mine in actuality alone, doing it once instead of three times.”
-Henry Ward Beecher
The advantage of this program is that it teaches you how to work with your habits. By making fitness and health a habit, you don’t waste any time. You simply perform the right actions and move on with your life.
In addition, this program teaches you several different ways of approaching fitness and health. Starved for time? Do the program minimum. Perform some exercises at your desk or learn how to incorporate exercise into your daily life.
You won’t need to think about what you’re doing because the exercises are presented in a framework that teaches you how to balance out your exercise selection. Over a dozen workout routines are included so you’re not starting from scratch.
If you use the techniques in the Joyfully Changing Your Habits section, you can induce yourself to change. Yes, you can shed bad habits like a snake sheds its skin. You put in the work to change your habits, but the change itself occurs as a matter of course. It’s the only way to change. Forget jaw-clenching exertions of willpower that leave you feeling agitated and miserable.
Yes, I know you want something quick. Indeed, this will be quick. But quick is nothing without enduring. I don’t want you back here next year buying the next edition of this program (unless you really feel the need to give me more money). It should be a one and done.
How can it be quick and enduring? Changing your mind is the quick part. The enduring part is that once you change your mind, you change your habits as well.
As Aristotle said:
“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.”
Once you make fitness and health a habit, you’re unstoppable!
Here is the key with exercise. Compound movements rule the day. There is a reason the push up has been around forever. It’s a compound movement. Same with the squat and the deadlift.
There are some newer things that can help, too. Like kettlebells.
But still, you can master your body with bodyweight exercise only. You can also get incredibly strong. Sure, this book shows you weighted exercises, too, but with your body, you are the gym—and that means no excuses. So I definitely encourage bodyweight exercises.
You’ll learn about the pull up, the chin up, handstand push ups, military presses, kettlebell swings, kettlebell snatches, front squats, one-legged squats, and more. Each exercise features pictures and detailed performance instructions. Later in the book, the exercises are incorporated in a workout routine that you can perform immediately.
That’s why I focus on changing your habits. It’s the most important step. You’ll change your habits and then you’ll want to perform the exercises. Instead of dreading exercise sessions, you’ll simply do them as a matter of course—just like you brush your teeth.
Bruce Lee once said:
The more “ready” the person is to respond to a stimulus, the more satisfaction he finds in the response, and the more “unready” he is, the more annoying he finds it to be forced to act.
By changing your thoughts, you’ll change your habits, and you’ll be ready to make fitness and health a part of your lifestyle.
Change your habits, start doing the right things the majority of the time, and you’re set for life. Once you have the fundamentals down, then you’ll always have the answer for how do I get fit. Get off the hamster wheel because now you have real answers. My Training Guide shows you how.
You’ve probably heard the difference between knowledge and wisdom. Wisdom is applied knowledge. First, I give you the knowledge—how to train your body and how to approach eating so you can get lean, healthy, and strong. Then, I teach you how to apply the knowledge by changing your thoughts. That’s the secret—go through the exercises to change your thoughts, and you’ll start performing the correct actions as a matter of course. It’ll seem natural.
Let’s stop being confused. The advice I give in my book is simple and straightforward and devoid of confusion. I’ve spent the majority of my career in corporate America as a technical writer. Technical writer’s figure out how to deliver the right amount of information with no wasted words. That means this book is fluff-free AND full of important details you need to know.
It’s only in the last century that we developed and perfected this problem with being out of shape. And no wonder. We have plentiful food, machines do the hard jobs that humans once had to do, and we drive our cars everywhere. My program meets these challenges head on with sensible recommendations that anyone can follow.
So if you’re ready to hop onto this sustainable trend by starting with your body—get this book. This book delivers sustainable fitness and the whole-truth answer to the question, “How do I get fit?”
